Hair transplants – Not Torture, A Good Idea

Posted: 09 Feb 2011 06:36 AM PST

Hair loss, particularly premature hair loss, can be a nightmare for younger guys. It's a truly grim experience, and emotionally draining as well as infuriating and frustrating. The problem is that the options, like hair replacement, often involve cheesy ads and semi-plausible success stories.

Some of the success stories come from guys who look like over-achieving bodybuilders with more hair on their chests than they had on their heads. These guys are inevitably pictured alongside some gorgeous model in the "After" shots. That sort of hard sell isn't necessarily a direct appeal to credibility. People suffering from chronic hair loss aren't always optimists. They'd prefer to see real people and get some reassurance.

Hair transplants – The facts

Real hair transplants are simple, and not done with sales pitches. They're actual medical procedures, done systematically and realistically. These procedures are actually quite simple, but there's some planning involved.

There are several basic stages:

1. Consultation:
You talk to the clinical consultant, and figure out a good plan for a natural, staged, hair replacement program. This includes developing a basic concept of how you'd like your new hair to look. You also get professional advice about options, what the treatments involve, and time frames.

You're replacing hair, not re-turfing a lawn. This takes time, sometimes hundreds of individual grafts. It's actually quite straightforward, but it has to be done methodically, to ensure proper replacement and a suitable density of hair.

2. Skin examination:
This is the clinical examination, checking out factors related to hair loss, and in some cases may require a biopsy if a skin medical condition is causing the problem. This is the "mapping stage", where you can get down to details about your preferred look.

3. Treatment:
The different types of treatment are related to the replacement program you've worked out. Modern hair replacement doesn't use scalpels and doesn't leave scars. The new hair replacement is methodical, well organized, and systematic.

The treatment is called "donor" treatment. Your own hair is transplanted from a selected site to your scalp. This, obviously, means two procedures- extractions of hair and transplantation. These procedures are carried out progressively over time. The procedures really are as straightforward as that.

Important: For the record – Hair is hair. Body hair is exactly the same thing as the hair on your head. You're just moving your hair around.

A hair transplant these days doesn't involve any more suffering at the expense of your peace of mind and your hairline. This is a highly developed, no-fuss procedure. You also get the benefit of expert advice and thorough checking of your transplants. There's no guesswork, no mess and no doubt that you're actually solving the problem, permanently.

If you've been worrying about getting hair replacement treatment, stop worrying. Stress doesn't help, and there really is a solution to the problem. Hair loss is aggravating enough without beating yourself up as well. Get on the phone or online and check out your options.
