Amusement Park Survival Guide

Posted: 22 Jun 2011 01:00 AM PDT

A day at the amusement park is a time to revert back to childhood in some small manner and enjoy all the thrills, great food and of course the company of friends and family for what should be a fun filled free-for-all.

But being a girl I already see the bumps in the road that we can face if we don't come prepared for just about anything.  The weather, accidents, and protecting our skin should be at the forefront of our minds; that's why I've created this survival guide for the budding fashionista who wants to let her hair down for the weekend cause "Girls just want to have fun!"  I had to say it y’all!  Check out what you'll need here:

1.       Sunscreen! This should be at the top of your list, before looking or smelling good you need to make sure your skin is protected with sun block that has an SPF of 30 or higher.  Philosophy has an amazing line up of products, which also includes their "Shelter" sun block you can pick up for $25. Wrinkles aren't cute!

2.       Appropriate clothes. The weather in the summer especially in Toronto is always changing throughout the day; hot one minute, cold the next and raining before the day is through.  This tank from H&M is cute, but make sure to pack a sweater to throw over cold shoulders stowed away somewhere as well as an umbrella if it starts raining on you while you're waiting in line for your favourite ride! Get these Jbrand shorts here and belt here!

3.     Lip Balm. We got our bodies covered but the lips are just as important Burts Bee's is a great choice you can pick it up at any drugstore, its soothing and with an SPF of 8 your lips should make it through any hot sweltering day!

4. Comfortable shoes. Flip flops might seem easy or convenient but the truth is the most practical solution for feet which will probably be walking for hours, be dropped from insane heights, tossed, rolled, and turned every which way is a pair of great flats that buckle up.   These Steve Madden sandals, which buckle, will ensure you won't have to worry about losing your shoes 50ft in the air!

5. Sunnies + Hat! A hot pair of sunnies is a necessary item not only for turning up that swag but for protection from the sun's rays; a pair of Ray-Ban's always hits the mark! Don't forget a hat, anything you can add to combat the sun is a step in the right direction. The straw hat is very popular right now so I suggest something like this straw fedora

6.       Cross body bag.  Now I say a cross body bag because you want to be able to be mobile and still have your stuff (stuff you've carried and any prizes or souvenirs you've collected) at arm's reach without being in the way.  A cross body bag in my mind like this one by Kate Spade delivers this best while still being fashionable and unobtrusive.

7.       Other little extras I would include are lotion to reapply after the water park, or a visit to the girl's room, hair pins, hair ties, stud earrings, a towel or small rag, tissue, gum or mints and water! Lots of water!

I've already visited the amusement park once so far for the summer and hope to make it back before the months through, with these items in mind every trip should be just as fun as the last!  You have any items you can't go to the park without?? Share!!
